Looking for Something to Do Near Weymouth This Summer? Come to Abbotsbury Beachcombers’ Village Fête!
It’s time to dust off your sun hat, round up the kids (and maybe the dog too), and head to the Abbotsbury Beachcombers’ Village Fête on Saturday 26th July 2025 from 12 PM to 4 PM. Set in the stunning West Dorset village of Abbotsbury – right in the heart of the Jurassic Coast – this family-friendly, slightly bonkers, brilliantly British event is exactly what your summer’s been missing.
Whether you’re a local legend or a coastal wanderer staying in Weymouth, Bridport or Dorchester, this is your golden ticket to a cracking day out. Entry is completely free, the vibe is proper laid-back, and everything’s happening in the overflow car park (DT3 4JJ) – yes, the overflow! Because it’s going to be that popular.
So What’s Happening Then?
- 🚗 Vintage Vehicles – Old motors, polished chrome, and maybe a Land Rover or two that smells faintly of oil and nostalgia.
- 🐾 Dog Show – Think Crufts, but fluffier, funnier, and with more tail wagging chaos. Rosettes up for grabs!
- 🎯 Children’s Games – From hoopla to “how many sweets in the jar” – if they win something, you’ll never hear the end of it.
- 🛍️ Local Craft Stalls – Handmade loveliness, random antiques, jams you don’t need but will definitely buy.
- 🍰 Tea, Cake & Grub – There’ll be hot food, homemade cake, and tea served strong enough to unblock a drain. Sorted.
All proceeds go to local charities and good causes, so you’re not just having a laugh – you’re doing a good deed while you’re at it. And if that’s not a good excuse for a slice of cake and a pint, we don’t know what is.
How to Get There
🚙 By car: From Weymouth, Dorchester or Bridport? You’re no more than 15–20 minutes away. Just follow the B3157 and the signs for Abbotsbury. The overflow car park will be clearly signposted (DT3 4JJ), and probably full of excited dogs.
🚌 By bus: The X53 Jurassic Coaster runs from Weymouth and Bridport for just £3. Get off by the Ilchester Arms, then follow the crowds of happy people and barking dogs.

Make a Day of It
If you’re heading over for the day, don’t forget to pop in to the Swan Inn for a cold pint and proper pub grub. We’re just a short stroll from the fête and always happy to see thirsty folk. Bring the family, bring your nan, bring the dog – just maybe leave the ferret at home.
So there you go – if you’re wondering “what’s on near me” this July and you like your weekends filled with fun, food, fresh air and community spirit, the Abbotsbury Beachcombers’ Village Fête is the place to be. We’ll see you there – just follow the smell of cake and dog biscuits.
